Our weekend celebration started on Friday morning when our friends Ken & Elaine surprised us with a 50th balloon and donuts at the Pickleball courts. Most of them had seen the article last Sunday in the courier's Celebrations -
We had our celebration Saturday night
starting with Mass at Immaculate Conception Church where we were married July 24th, 1965. The
priest gave us a special blessing - Linda didn’t want to renew our vows, she was
nervous enough standing in the aisle for our blessing. The choir sang The Old
Rugged Cross and Ave Maria before Mass started. The organist also made our
cake using some of the original decorations and the top piece.

We had our meal at the CU restaurant in downtown
Waterloo. The
food was very good. Just the immediate family was there then later three of Rick’s
siblings and spouses came. It was a fun night.
