We really like all the old
bridges along 101 designed by Conde McCullough and built in the 1930’s.

October 9th – We went
back to the sand dunes for our walk. Up and over the dunes and down to the
beach is easier said than done because climbing the sand is difficult and
leaves the legs feeling like rubber. We took a good look at the weather for the
next week and decided to leave here tomorrow as soon as the fog allows. The weather
in Crater Lake NP is suppose to change drastically next week so we are trying
to get in there ahead of what could be a snow storm closing most of the Park.
October 8th – We drove
to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area for our morning walk. Luckily it
is only a couple miles from the campground. We toured south from here down to
Reedsport and met friends for lunch, tried out the local Dog Park
and drove out to the Elk viewing area where we saw a large herd of elk in
several groups. The fog returned on the way home.
October 7th – We got
our beach walk where we saw the largest Bald Eagle I have ever seen. We got to
play some Pickleball and still packed up to leave by noon. We stopped at a few
viewpoints along the way so it was after 3 o’clock by the time we setup and got
some lunch. Some places the highway is hundreds of feet above the ocean and at
one spot only a few feet, some very rugged rocks pounded by surf and some sandy
beach for miles with little waves.
