Amazing base on a 50 foot plus tree

September 15th – It was a beautiful morning and we were up early so we decided to take our last morning walk here.  As hind sight has it we might have been better serve by leaving early. We had to stop for supplies and fuel so by the time we left Port Angeles it was almost noon. We drove to another section of Olympic N. P. at Lake Crescent. It was probably the clearest water I have seen. We actually drove along the lake for many miles of 30 MPH curves, curves and more curves. We had lunch, let Lexi play in the water and then hiked to the Marymere falls – about ¾ of a mile each way. We went under the 101 through a tunnel and through more old growth forest with huge trees covered in mosses because we are now in a rainforest. The last section had a lot of steps and gain in elevation. The falls were nice but not spectacular but the walk through a time warp was so worth it. One bridge was made from a log with the top cut off - unique. It was after 2 o’clock by the time we got back on the road and there is no way to make good time on the 101. But the views are breathtaking at times so that took some of the pain away. It was 5:30 by the time we made it to the campground. Luckily setup was a breeze and we are a half a block from the ocean and Linda got to watch her DWTS so all is well.
